Prices are single-pair prices seen in October 2026, and several brands were running promotions. Brand D’s facts come from its own UK shop and Brand E’s from its own Ireland and international pages, because the main UK pages blocked our checks.
Which period pants brands are based in the UK?
Five of the nine are UK businesses, according to their own sites and company records as of October 2026. Annahitah is headquartered in Surrey, per the B Lab directory; the other four are registered or ship from addresses in England.
Of the rest, one is UK-focused with a fulfilment centre in England but no stated head office, one sells here through an approved UK retailer, one is Australian, and one belongs to a Scandinavian parent company with a UK shop that ships to UK postcodes only.
Country of manufacture is a separate question. Two of the nine name their factories, in Turkey, Pakistan and China; the rest, Annahitah included, don’t state one on their sites.
How do brands measure absorbency?
Brands measure absorbency three different ways as of October 2026, which is why a straight comparison is awkward. Brand A, Brand B and Brand F give millilitres alongside tampon equivalents. Annahitah, Brand C and Brand H give tampons only: Annahitah’s Super Heavy styles such as Shanti, Odessa, Athena and Valentina hold 6 to 8 tampons’ worth, and its Heavy and Medium styles 3 to 5. Brand D counts pads. Brand E and Brand G give no figure.
Tampon equivalents aren’t standardised. Only Brand B defines its tampon (5ml), so Brand A’s 12, Brand H’s 10 and Annahitah’s 6 to 8 are each a brand’s own scale, not a shared ruler. Match the level to your heaviest day rather than your average one.
Which brands are silver-free, and what do they say about PFAS?
Annahitah, Brand A (for its period pants), Brand C and Brand H state on their sites, as of October 2026, that their period pants contain no silver. Brand D names silver copper zeolite, while noting some ranges have no antibacterial property, and Brand E lists silver chloride on at least its High Leg No VPL style. Brand B, Brand F and Brand G make no silver statement on their sites.
Annahitah takes a middle route. Six styles (Shanti, Odessa, Athena, Valentina, Serendipity and Venus) carry a silver-free antimicrobial agent for extra odour control, and the other six are left plain.
Which? published a silver test in November 2023, run with Altroconsumo and an independent lab on one medium-flow black pair from each of 12 brands. It detected silver in seven of them, from 126.7 mg/kg down to 0.2 mg/kg, and none in the other five. Annahitah wasn’t among the brands tested, so there is no Which? figure for it either way. We cover the study in full in our silver-free guide.
On PFAS, the wording matters. Brand A prohibits intentional PFAS through its supplier rules and won’t claim “PFAS-free” because no test proves absence. Brand B and Brand D say they don’t intentionally add PFAS; Brand D adds that environmental traces can’t be ruled out. Brand C describes its pants as designed PFAS-free, and Brand H states its pants are completely PFAS-free. Brand E, Brand F and Brand G publish no PFAS statement, and neither does Annahitah; you can email hello@annahitah.com to ask about testing.
Which brands hold certifications such as B Corp or OEKO-TEX?
Four of the nine are certified B Corps as of October 2026: Annahitah (certified November 2025, B Impact Score 91.0), Brand A (111.4), Brand C (score not stated) and Brand H (147.5). B Corp measures a company’s social and environmental practice, not the chemistry of the pants.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a textile test for harmful substances. Brand B states it on every product and Brand D on all its washable underwear. Annahitah says its suppliers are GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified, which is a supplier statement rather than a product certificate. Brand C is also Vegan Society registered. Brand F, Brand E and Brand G state no certifications on the pages we could fetch.

Find your pair Explore styles, flow ratings & sizesWhich brand has the widest size range and the youngest teen size?
Brand C states the widest span as of October 2026, UK 2 to UK 30, with Brand A and Brand B both running from a UK 4 to a UK 26. Annahitah runs XXXS to XXL, a UK 2 to UK 18.
For teens, Brand A’s smallest teen size fits ages 8 to 12 (hip 75 to 90cm) and Brand B’s youngest is an age 8-10 size (hip 79 to 81cm). Annahitah’s XXXS is a UK 2-4 with a 79 to 83cm hip, sold in one style only: Valentina, an organic cotton Super Heavy pair the site calls its signature teenage style. Brand C, Brand D, Brand F and Brand G sell teen styles without stating a youngest size. Measure hips rather than guessing by age.
How long do period pants last, and how should you wash them?
Stated lifespans, as of October 2026, run from 50 washes (Brand D’s guarantee) to about four years (Brand H, at 100 washes). Some brands count washes, some count years, and Brand B gives both. Annahitah says 18 months to 3 years depending on care. Brand E states no lifespan.
Washing is where the brands nearly agree: rinse cold, no softener, no bleach, no tumble dryer. The temperature differs. Annahitah, Brand C, Brand F and Brand B say 30°C or cooler; Brand A allows 30°C or 40°C; Brand D, Brand E and Brand H say 40°C.
What do period pants cost per pair, and is there VAT?
Single pairs cost from about £15 to £28 at the specialist brands as of October 2026, with Brand D’s PJ pants the outlier at £33.33. Annahitah’s twelve styles run £18 to £24, with free UK standard delivery over £50. Brand C showed us US dollars, so we can’t confirm its GBP single price, though its site quotes 7 pairs for £49. Brand E sells 2- and 3-packs, and Brand G’s retailer lists £4.99 to £11.99 with several at half price.
Reusable period underwear has been zero-rated for VAT in the UK since 1 January 2024 under the Value Added Tax (Women’s Sanitary Products: Reusable Underwear) Order 2023. A high-street retailer’s newsroom noted in August 2023 that period pants were then taxed at 20% as garments, and that two of the brands in this comparison led the campaign to change that.
Which brands offer a worn trial or money-back guarantee?
Five of the nine let you wear a pair and claim a refund if it doesn’t suit, as of October 2026, and Annahitah isn’t one of them. Brand C gives 90 days; Brand B, Brand F and Brand D give 60; Brand A gives 40 on your first pair. Each has conditions, such as first order only or one worn pair. Brand H gives no refunds on pants unless faulty, but has a satisfaction guarantee you can claim after 90 days of use.
Annahitah accepts returns within 30 days if the pants are unworn and in perfect condition, with the customer paying return postage, and will exchange a wrong size. That is a real difference. If you want to test a pair through a full period before committing, five other brands offer that. Annahitah does replace pairs that ladder or come apart if you email a photo.
Where does Annahitah differ, and which brand may suit you?
Annahitah has the smallest range here, twelve styles in one colour, and it differs on five points. Four layers, where most brands here state three (Brand H states five). Silver-free throughout, with an optional silver-free antimicrobial on six styles. Capacity in tampons’ worth only, 6 to 8 for Super Heavy, with no ml figure. An XXXS teen size in Valentina. And B Corp certification since November 2025, alongside a schools programme and a monthly donation of pants to women who need them.
Every order arrives in a washable organic cotton Eco-bag for carrying a spare pair. It’s black only, £18 to £24 a pair as of October 2026, and returns are 30 days unworn rather than a worn trial. If silver-free pants with a choice of antimicrobial or plain, four layers and a young-teen size are what you’re after, read why Annahitah before you pick a style.
